Accounting & Audit Domain Expert | $60–$100/hr | Hybrid – Bay Area, CA

Join a leading AI lab's GenAI research team as a senior accounting and audit domain expert. In this hybrid, full-time role, you'll work directly alongside AI researchers to shape how frontier AI models reason about real-world accounting and audit work. Your expertise defines what "correct" looks like — from golden datasets to challenging benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Data QA & Review: Evaluate the quality of accounting and audit knowledge tasks and model outputs, identifying missing behaviors, thin reasoning, misapplied standards, and unsupported accounting treatments.
• Instruction Specs & Golden Datasets: Write high-quality instruction specs, produce authoritative golden solutions, and define new tasks that reflect how accounting work is actually performed in practice.
• Benchmarks & Domain Depth: Design rigorous accounting and audit evaluation sets and help build domain-specific skills and tools in collaboration with the research team.
• Calibration: Partner with researchers and adjacent specialists to maintain consistent standards, translating tacit accounting judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.

Core Qualifications

• Credentials: Active professional credential required — CPA, CA, CIA, CFE, or CMA — alongside a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a closely related field.
• Experience: 4+ years of substantive accounting or audit experience at a recognized institution (public accounting firm, corporate controllership, internal audit, or regulator). Bookkeeping-only roles do not qualify.
• Domain Depth: Genuine specialization in at least one area: external audit and assurance, technical accounting (US GAAP/IFRS), internal audit and SOX controls, tax, forensic accounting, or revenue recognition.
• Seniority: Clear progression to a senior level — Audit Manager, Senior Manager, Controller, Director of Accounting, or Partner — with real ownership of engagements or reporting cycles.
• AI Fluency: Hands-on working experience with large language models and the judgment to distinguish well-reasoned answers from plausible-sounding errors.
• Availability: Able to commit to 40 hours per week for an initial 6-month engagement.
• Location: Must reside in the Bay Area, CA, and be available to work on-site multiple days per week. Relocation assistance is not provided.

This is a full-time W-2 position with Cincinnatus LLC, placed within a leading AI lab as part of their extended workforce. You will receive client-issued accounts and equipment and work directly inside the client's tools alongside their research teams.
