Join Mercor as an experienced Accounting Expert and collaborate with a leading AI research lab to advance the development of AI systems for real-world accounting workflows. This fully remote, part-time contractor role offers a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to work on innovative projects that shape the future of accounting technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate AI-generated accounting outputs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory standards.
• Calibrate AI decision-making in core accounting tasks such as journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Simulate and audit financial close processes, consolidations, tax filings, and internal controls.
• Provide expert feedback on AI-generated financial statements, disclosures, audit papers, and management reports.
• Collaborate asynchronously with product and AI teams to refine systems using accounting best practices.

Ideal Qualifications:

• 2+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably with top-tier public accounting firms or leading corporate finance departments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (CPA, CA, CMA) are highly valued.
• Strong technical proficiency in GAAP, IFRS, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Expertise in month-end close, reconciliations, revenue recognition, consolidations, and tax compliance.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

• Duration: 1–2 months
• Commitment: Part-time (~20 hours/week), fully remote and asynchronous
• Compensation: $90–110/hr, with weekly performance bonuses ($20–$100/hr)
• Status: Independent Contractor, paid weekly via Stripe Connect
