Accounting Expert | $130–160/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to bring on experienced accountants for a specialized evaluation project. Your role is not to produce accounting deliverables — it's to define what excellent accounting work looks like, design rigorous grading criteria, and score real work samples with well-reasoned written justifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design precise, task-specific grading criteria for real-world accounting deliverables, including reconciliations, close packages, financial statements, disclosures, workpapers, and technical accounting memos
• Score AI-generated and human work samples against established criteria, providing detailed written justifications for every score
• Apply consistent, evidence-based judgment to ensure scores are reproducible and defensible
• Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and iterate quickly on your assessments

Ideal Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional accounting experience
• Background in audit, assurance, or advisory at a leading global accounting firm, or in a senior accounting role at a large public company
• CPA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred
• Deep expertise in US GAAP, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and audit-ready workpapers
• Exceptionally strong written communication skills — ability to clearly articulate why work does or does not meet professional standards
• Detail-oriented, consistent, and comfortable having your judgment reviewed and calibrated against peers
• Prior experience with AI training, evaluation, or human-data projects is a strong plus
