AI Analyst & Photographer (French) | Contractor | Up to 40 hrs/week | Worldwide Remote

Turing is looking for French-speaking photographers and data annotators to help build high-quality AI evaluation materials. You'll source, edit, and annotate real-world images to challenge multimodal AI agents in multi-step visual research tasks. This is a fully remote contractor engagement lasting up to 16 weeks.

About Turing

Based in San Francisco, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing accelerates frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, and top AI researchers specializing in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents.

Role Overview

You will create evaluation datasets using cropped, occluded, or degraded images of authentic real-world places, products, and media. Each task requires sourcing verifiably licensed photographs, obscuring key identifying details, and preparing a complete deliverable package — including prompts, grading rubrics, and solution notes — designed to challenge AI agents conducting multi-step web research.

Key Qualifications

  • Language: Native or highly fluent in French; strong working proficiency in English required. All prompts, rubrics, and notes must be written in English.
  • Local Cultural Knowledge: Deep familiarity with regionally significant, non-touristy landmarks, universities, municipal buildings, and domestic film/media in French-speaking locales. This is a critical requirement.
  • Research Skills: Proficient in iterative, multi-step investigative research using Google Search, Google Lens, and reverse image search.
  • Image Sourcing & Copyright Literacy: Able to source and verify copyright-free or explicitly licensed imagery from Wikimedia Commons, Smithsonian Open Access, Creative Commons, public-domain collections, or original photography — with full license and provenance documentation.
  • Basic Image Editing: Able to crop, mask, or obscure source images while preserving realistic secondary visual clues.
  • Attention to Detail: Capable of writing concise, objective rubric criteria and appropriately scoped prompts without revealing the target subject's identity.
  • Tool Proficiency: Comfortable with Google Drive, structured file-naming conventions, and organized deliverable submissions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in any field.
  • Experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, or quality assurance is preferred but not required.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: At least 4 hours/day, up to 40 hours/week, with 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
  • Type: Contractor
  • Duration: Up to 16 weeks

Evaluation Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will receive a Job Interest Form.
  • Final candidates will be contacted with onboarding steps, including consent and NDA requirements.
