AI Analyst & Photographer (Indonesian) | Contractor | Worldwide Remote

Turing is looking for Indonesian-speaking photographers and data annotators to help build evaluation materials for frontier AI systems. In this role, you'll source, modify, and annotate real-world images to challenge multimodal AI agents in multi-step visual research tasks. This is a fully remote contractor engagement lasting up to 16 weeks, requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week.

About Turing

Based in San Francisco, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI. Turing helps customers accelerate frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, and top AI researchers specializing in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents.

Role Overview

You will source authentic photographs of real-world places, products, and media, then crop, occlude, or degrade them to conceal key identifying details. Each submission will include a structured deliverable package: a research-backed prompt, grading rubric, and solution notes — all written in English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source high-quality, verifiably licensed photographs relevant to Indonesian locales.
  • Verify copyright status and document license type and image provenance.
  • Conduct multi-step research using Google Search, Google Lens, and reverse image search to identify and verify image subjects.
  • Create cropped, masked, or degraded image versions that preserve realistic visual clues while concealing identifying details.
  • Write clear, time-bound prompts in English without revealing the target identity.
  • Develop concise, objective one-sentence grading criteria for each evaluation instance.
  • Prepare solution notes documenting ground-truth identity, research process, supporting evidence, and expected outcomes.

Key Qualifications

  • Language: Native or highly fluent in Indonesian; strong working proficiency in English required.
  • Local cultural knowledge: Deep familiarity with regionally significant, non-touristy Indonesian landmarks, institutions, and domestic media.
  • Research skills: Proficient in iterative, multi-step investigative research using Google Search, Google Lens, and reverse image search.
  • Image sourcing & copyright literacy: Experienced sourcing from Wikimedia Commons, Creative Commons, Smithsonian Open Access, or original photography; able to document provenance.
  • Basic image editing: Able to crop, mask, or annotate images while preserving realistic secondary visual clues.
  • Attention to detail: Skilled at writing precise rubric criteria and appropriately scoped prompts.
  • Tool proficiency: Comfortable with Google Drive, file-naming conventions, and structured deliverable submissions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in any field.
  • Prior experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, or quality assurance is preferred but not required.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: Minimum 4 hours/day, 20 hours/week, with 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
  • Type: Contractor
  • Duration: Up to 16 weeks

Evaluation Process

Shortlisted candidates will receive a Job Interest Form. Final candidates will be contacted with onboarding and consent requirements, including app-integration permissions and standard NDAs.
