AI & Data Science Expert (SME) | $27–$32/hr | Remote in US | Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
Join a leading AI lab's generative AI team and play a central role in shaping the next generation of Large Language Models. As a subject-matter expert in AI and data science, you'll contribute directly to training data quality, evaluation frameworks, and model reasoning capabilities across quantitative and agentic domains. This is a W-2 position through Cincinnatus LLC, embedded within a top-tier AI lab's extended workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide research and engineering teams by surfacing expert-level nuances in data science, AI, and machine learning domains.
- Design challenging, real-world tasks rooted in statistical modeling, ML pipelines, data engineering, and software workflows — and write accurate, well-documented solutions as ground truth.
- Evaluate AI agent outputs and data science solutions, providing detailed written feedback on correctness, efficiency, and reasoning quality.
- Develop and refine evaluation rubrics for statistical reasoning, ML pipeline design, agentic behavior, and data analysis approaches.
- Collaborate with fellow subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy across training data.
Core Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional or research experience in data science, machine learning, data engineering, AI systems, or software engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one of: statistical modeling, ML modeling, data analysis, programming, LLMs, or agentic workflows.
- Proven career progression in a relevant technical field.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week during weekdays for the full duration of the engagement.
- Experience with LLMs, AI systems, or agentic frameworks is a strong plus.
- Prior work in data annotation, labeling, evaluation, or human feedback collection is highly valued.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain analytical and technical decisions.
