Turing is seeking completed PhD holders in Engineering to help fine-tune and evaluate large language models (LLMs) for frontier AI labs. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role — no prior AI experience required.

Role Overview

As an AI Domain Expert, you will leverage your deep Engineering expertise to help improve the performance of large language models like ChatGPT. You will design challenging problems, evaluate AI-generated solutions, and collaborate with researchers to build rigorous benchmarks — all without any coding required.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced, conceptual Engineering problems to test AI performance across domains such as Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Chemical, Process, Applied, and Systems Engineering.
• Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with rigorous logical reasoning.
• Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning.
• Collaborate with research teams to refine benchmarks spanning undergraduate to PhD-level Engineering topics.

Requirements

• Completed PhD in Engineering (any relevant discipline).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across advanced Engineering domains.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly in writing and provide structured, actionable feedback.
• No prior AI or machine learning experience required.

Engagement Details

• Commitment: Minimum 40 hours per week.
• Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical benefits or paid leave).
• Time Zone: Some overlap with UTC-8:00 (2–5 hours/day) preferred.
