AI Language Annotator (English – Australia)

About the Role:
Mercor is hiring native English-speaking Language Annotators for a short-term project with a leading AI research lab. You’ll help train AI models to better understand Australian English through the annotation of text, image, and video data.
Key Responsibilities:
Annotate text, images, and video according to guidelines, using your knowledge of Australian language and culture.
Use analytical skills to complete tasks such as identifying correct phrases, summarizing ideas, or copying handwriting.
Assess whether AI-generated text is factually accurate and contextually appropriate.
Ideal Qualifications:
Experience as a professional translator.
Professional writing experience (historian, copywriter, journalist, technical writer, editor, etc.).
Enrollment in or completion of an undergraduate program in a humanities field, writing, or cultural studies.
Enrollment in or completion of a graduate program related to creative writing.
Currently based in Australia.
Role Highlights:
Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.
Minimum commitment: 15 hours per week.
Project duration: Approximately 3–4 weeks.
Desktop or laptop computer required (Chromebooks not accepted).
Compensation & Legal Details:
Competitive, market-based hourly compensation.
Weekly payments via Stripe Connect.
You will be classified as an "at-will" contractor.
