AI/ML Research Intern | Summer Internship | San Francisco Bay Area (On-Site)

Turing is looking for a motivated undergraduate or graduate student to join our team as an AI/ML Research Intern for a 3-month summer engagement. This hands-on role blends machine learning experimentation with full stack or Python-based development, giving you real-world exposure to frontier AI research and product workflows.

What You'll Do

• Assist in ML/AI research tasks including data collection, preprocessing, and model experimentation
• Build and test prototypes or internal tools using Python or full stack technologies
• Implement and evaluate machine learning models at a basic to intermediate level
• Work with datasets, APIs, and existing codebases to extend functionality
• Document experiments, findings, and results clearly and thoroughly
• Collaborate with the team on iterative problem-solving and development

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field
• Based in the California Bay Area and available to work in US time zones (PST overlap required)
• Basic understanding of Machine Learning and AI concepts
• Proficiency in Python
• Familiarity with at least one of the following:
  • ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Full stack development including React, Node.js, APIs, or databases
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or projects in ML/AI, Data Science, or Software Development
• Experience with LLMs, NLP, or applied AI use cases
• Exposure to cloud platforms or deployment workflows
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub

Engagement Details

• Commitment: 40 hours per week with at least 8 hours of PST overlap
• Type: Contractor assignment (no medical/paid leave benefits)
• Duration: 3 months, adjustable based on performance and engagement
• Location: USA — California Bay Area
• Interview Process: 2 rounds of technical interviews (~90 minutes each)
