Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs on Project Atlas — an initiative to build realistic enterprise environments where frontier AI agents are trained and evaluated. We're looking for experienced, passionate AI users who live and breathe this space: people who build custom agents, design complex workflows, and push AI tools well beyond the basics.
About the Role
As an AI Power User, you'll help design and author benchmark tasks that reflect real-world professional workflows. Your work will directly inform how leading AI labs train and evaluate the next generation of AI systems. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI research while doing what you already love.
Key Responsibilities
- Use Claude Code fluently to solve real problems through multi-turn agentic workflows that go beyond single-prompt interactions
- Operate across agentic tools like Codex and Claude Code, integrating file environments and MCP tools to execute end-to-end professional workflows
- Author benchmark tasks in collaboration with fellow domain experts, ensuring each scenario reflects how work is actually done in the field
- Design multi-step tasks grounded in real workflows — structured around end-to-end scenarios requiring navigation of multiple apps, files, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with other experts to shape task scope, design environments, and review scenarios for realism and rigor
- Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria
- Contribute meaningfully to frontier AI research and benchmarking initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Daily, hands-on experience with AI tools — you genuinely love working with them
- Proven ability to build custom GPTs, agents, workflows, or advanced prompts
- Strong understanding of how AI agents will be deployed in real professional environments
- Ability to think critically about task design, evaluation criteria, and agent performance
- Comfortable working asynchronously in a collaborative, research-oriented environment
Compensation Note
This project begins at an effective hourly rate of $85/hr, with a planned transition to a throughput-based compensation model rewarding quality and volume of work produced.
