AI Systems Engineer – STEM Workflow | Contractor | 4-Week Engagement | Worldwide Remote

Turing is looking for a Senior AI Systems Engineer with deep expertise in multi-step agentic architecture to support a high-impact mathematics research initiative. You'll bridge pure mathematics and technical execution, designing and deploying sophisticated AI agents capable of reasoning through advanced scientific and mathematical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize multi-step agentic workflows capable of multi-hop reasoning, hypothesis generation, and technical validation.
  • Collaborate closely with mathematical researchers to translate complex, abstract proofs into structured technical specifications and automated pipelines.
  • Develop reusable architectural frameworks, tooling, and memory systems tailored for STEM-focused AI agents.
  • Evaluate and iterate on agent performance, ensuring high accuracy, reliability, and clear trace logic across all execution steps.

Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience architecting and deploying production-grade, multi-step agentic systems using frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or custom orchestration solutions.
  • Domain Experience: Background building AI/ML applications within STEM domains — Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Quantitative Finance.
  • Core Skills: Advanced Python proficiency, LLM orchestration, structured output generation, tool integration, and state management.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work alongside subject-matter experts and translate dense academic material into modular, maintainable software systems.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: 40 hours/week with a minimum 4-hour overlap with PST
  • Type: Contractor/Freelancer (no medical or paid leave benefits)
  • Duration: 4-week contract
