AI Training Specialist – Biology | Contractor | Remote (India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Kenya, Mexico, Ghana, Nigeria, Turkey)

Turing is looking for a skilled Biology expert to design and evaluate advanced problems that train and benchmark state-of-the-art AI models. This is a fully remote contractor role requiring 40 hours per week with a 4-hour overlap with PST.

About Turing

Based in San Francisco, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing accelerates frontier research through high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, and top AI researchers specializing in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents.

Role Overview

As an AI Training Specialist in Biology, you will design challenging, graduate-level Biology problems used to train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models. A key focus of this role is converting complex, diagram-based biological concepts into precise, text-only, solvable problems with rigorous solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and curate upper-undergraduate and graduate-level Biology problems with fully worked solutions.
  • Create challenging, realistic tasks that expose failure modes in frontier AI systems.
  • Convert diagram-heavy or multi-part biology questions into self-contained, text-only problems with definitive answers.
  • Write rigorous scientific explanations and verify accuracy throughout problems and solutions.
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses, diagnose errors, and refine questions to meet difficulty targets.
  • Review Biology tasks created by others and improve clarity, correctness, and realism.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain consistent standards across large task batches.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Biology or a closely related field.
  • Strong upper-undergraduate or higher-level Biology background.
  • Fluent written English with the ability to produce precise scientific explanations.
  • Experience with teaching, grading, exam creation, or research-based analytical work.
  • High attention to detail and consistency in terminology and reasoning.
  • Genuine interest in AI model evaluation and how training data shapes model behavior.

Biology Domain Expertise

  • Molecular Biology
  • Cell Biology
  • Genetics & Genomics
  • Biochemistry
  • Physiology
  • Ecology or Systems Biology

Candidates should be able to translate pathways, gene regulation, and experimental setups into text-only formats, and have experience with quantitative or semi-quantitative biology (e.g., enzyme kinetics, growth rates, genetic probabilities).

Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience creating AI training or educational content.
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation pipelines and difficulty calibration.

Contract Details

  • Commitment: 40 hours/week with 4-hour PST overlap
  • Engagement Type: Contractor (no medical/paid leave)
  • Duration: 2 months, with possibility to extend
  • Eligible Locations: India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Kenya, Mexico, Ghana, Nigeria, Turkey

Evaluation Process

  • Take-home assessment
  • 15-minute Delivery Interview
