Atmospheric ML Research Expert | $150–200/hr | Worldwide Remote

Join a cutting-edge, project-based initiative at the intersection of machine learning and atmospheric science. AFTERQUERY is seeking experienced ML researchers and engineers to contribute to high-impact work in weather prediction, climate projection, extreme event detection, and atmospheric dynamics.

This is a short-term remote engagement spanning 2–3 weeks, with work assigned asynchronously on a project-by-project basis. Expect a flexible commitment of 10–20 hours per week for accepted projects — ideal for researchers looking to expand their portfolio while working on frontier climate and weather ML challenges.

What You'll Work On

• Developing and refining machine learning models applied to atmospheric and climate systems
• Data assimilation tasks for weather and climate modeling pipelines
• Research tasks spanning weather prediction, climate projection, and extreme event detection
• Investigating and modeling atmospheric dynamics using state-of-the-art ML techniques

Required Qualifications

• At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed venue (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, Journal of Climate, Geophysical Research Letters, or equivalent)
• Master's or PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Climate Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
• Demonstrated expertise in both machine learning and atmospheric or climate modeling
• Strong independent problem-solving skills and ability to execute technical research tasks with minimal oversight
