Attorney / Legal Expert (Real Estate) at Mercor

Attorney / Legal Expert (Real Estate & Energy) | $50–$150/hr | Remote in US

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI organization to engage attorneys and legal professionals for a contract project focused on improving AI legal reasoning in energy and real property law. This flexible engagement involves reviewing, annotating, and refining legal content to make AI-generated legal analysis more accurate, clear, and useful.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and annotate energy and real-property legal documents (leases, easements, conveyances, interconnection agreements) against detailed written instructions
• Provide exhaustive, citation-backed determinations with document, page, and verbatim text references, accompanied by clear natural-language reasoning
• Apply consistent legal judgment across a high volume of documents and flag ambiguities for senior review
• Quality-check the work of other reviewers and help resolve disagreements (senior contributors)
• Collaborate with AI researchers to assess and improve model performance

Ideal Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited US law school, or background as a paralegal or land/title professional
• Active US bar license in good standing (for attorney-level roles)
• Experience in real estate, energy, land use, or similar transactional practice
• Comfortable independently reading leases, easements, deeds, and similar instruments
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to locate and cite primary authority
• Familiarity with energy projects (oil & gas, solar, wind, transmission) or wholesale power markets (RTOs/ISOs) is a plus

Hiring Tiers

• Tier 1: Specialist / Law Clerk
• Tier 2: Associate / Senior Associate
• Tier 3: Partner

Candidates will be calibrated to the appropriate tier during the screening process.

Additional Details

• Must be based in the United States
• A project-provided Chromebook will be shipped to you for this engagement
• Compensation: $50–$150/hour, based on experience level
