Backend Software Engineer | $70–90/hr | Remote (US-based)

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research group to enhance code generation and reasoning models. We're seeking experienced software engineers to evaluate and improve AI-generated technical content, including API documentation, code snippets, and design guides. This is a short-term, high-impact contract opportunity perfect for engineers who value clarity, correctness, and practical problem-solving.

Role Overview

You'll work remotely on an asynchronous schedule, contributing 10–20 hours per week to assess and refine AI-generated technical outputs. This project focuses on ensuring accuracy, completeness, and real-world applicability of code documentation and implementation examples.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate AI-generated API documentation, guides, and technical notes
• Identify edge cases, implementation gaps, and inaccuracies in code outputs
• Write or improve code snippets and documentation content
• Assess model responses for correctness, clarity, and practical utility
• Provide structured feedback on input validation and error handling logic

Ideal Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience with backend or systems focus
• Proficiency in at least one major language (Python, Go, Java, etc.)
• Experience writing or maintaining technical documentation or API guides
• Strong understanding of input validation, defensive programming, and design patterns
• Excellent written communication and analytical skills
