Backend Specialist

Hourly Contract | Remote Worldwide | $35-$50/hour

Invisible Agency is seeking a Backend Specialist with strong experience in scalable backend systems and production cloud environments. Join our global remote team to build, deploy, and optimize backend services for real-world applications at scale. This contract role is perfect for backend engineers who thrive in event-driven, microservice architectures and enjoy working with the latest AI and cloud technologies.

Key Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining scalable backend systems

• Advanced programming skills in Python, with hands-on experience building APIs using FastAPI

• Proficient with SQL and database management

• Experience with prompt engineering and working with AI tools (such as Langflow)

• Comfortable with REST APIs, microservices, and frameworks like NestJS (Typescript), ReactJS, and Docker

• Familiar with event-driven architecture, WebSockets, distributed systems, and modern Git workflows

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Databrick strongly preferred

• Experience with Webhooks, API Connectors, and S3 (or equivalent) is highly desirable

Project Overview & Responsibilities

• Build and deploy backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI, Node.js, Express.js, and related cloud tools

• Develop resilient and scalable cloud-native deployments on GCP and Databrick

• Design event-driven architectures and support seamless integrations across microservices

• Work with WebSockets, webhooks, and distributed systems for real-time data and service orchestration

• Contribute to architecture, integration, and performance optimization

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and deploy backend systems powering large-scale, production-grade applications in containerized cloud environments

• Create and maintain robust APIs and scalable backend infrastructure

• Collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable, performant backend solutions

Compensation & Contractor Details

• Hourly rate: $35-$50/hour, based on experience, skills, and location

• Contractor role: supply your own secure computer and high-speed internet

• Benefits such as health insurance and PTO are not included
