AFTERQUERY is seeking a highly skilled machine learning researcher or engineer with deep expertise in computational behavioral modeling for a focused, project-based engagement over the next 2–3 weeks. About the Role

Work is fully remote and asynchronous, assigned on a project-by-project basis. You will take on tasks spanning model development, behavioral data analysis, and applied research across domains including decision-making, cognitive modeling, social dynamics, and agent-based behavioral simulation. Expect a commitment of 10–20 hours per week for the projects you choose to accept.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine computational models of human and animal behavior
• Analyze behavioral datasets using advanced ML and statistical techniques
• Apply reinforcement learning, Bayesian cognitive models, or social simulation frameworks to research problems
• Deliver high-quality, independently completed research and engineering tasks on tight timelines

Required Qualifications

• At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed venue (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, Psychological Review, Cognitive Science, PNAS, or equivalent)
• Master's or PhD in Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
• Demonstrated expertise in both machine learning and computational behavioral modeling
• Strong independent problem-solving skills with the ability to execute technical and research tasks with minimal oversight
