Bilingual Dutch STEM Expert (PhD) — AI Safety | $61–65/hr | Netherlands-Based Remote

MERCOR is seeking PhD-level scientists fluent in both Dutch (Netherlands) and English to help improve the safety of advanced AI models. You'll leverage your scientific expertise to evaluate and strengthen how AI systems handle specialized technical content in Netherlands Dutch. No prior AI or machine learning experience is necessary — full training is provided.

What You'll Do

• Write expert-level prompts in Netherlands Dutch across specialized scientific domains.
• Evaluate and annotate AI model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and responsible handling of sensitive content.
• Apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and multi-turn conversations.

What We're Looking For

• A PhD (ongoing or completed) in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field, with the ability to write prompts across chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear subject areas.
• Native or near-native fluency in Dutch as spoken in the Netherlands, plus business-level written English.
• Currently based in the Netherlands (this role covers Netherlands Dutch specifically).
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in your subfield.
• Sound judgment regarding scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information.

Nice to Have

• Background in radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics.
• Demonstrated depth in a specific subfield such as organic/inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics.
• Research or coursework in chemical safety, biosafety, biosecurity, or hazardous-materials handling.
• Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content.
