Bilingual Vietnamese STEM Expert (PhD) — AI Safety | $19–23/hr | Remote (Southeast Asia Preferred)

Mercor is seeking PhD-level scientists with bilingual proficiency in English and Vietnamese to contribute to cutting-edge AI safety research. In this role, you'll leverage your scientific expertise to evaluate and improve how advanced AI models handle specialized technical content in Vietnamese. No prior AI or machine learning experience is necessary — full training on the workflow is provided.

What You'll Do

• Write expert-level scientific prompts in Vietnamese across specialized technical domains.
• Evaluate and annotate AI model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and responsible handling of sensitive content.
• Apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and multi-turn conversations.

What We're Looking For

• A PhD (ongoing or completed) in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field, with the depth to engage across chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear subject areas.
• Native or near-native fluency in Vietnamese, along with business-level written English.
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in your subfield.
• Sound judgment regarding scientific safety and the responsible handling of dual-use information.

Nice to Have

• Based in Vietnam or the broader Southeast Asia region (preferred, not required).
• Background in radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics.
• Demonstrated depth in a specific subfield such as organic/inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics.
• Research or coursework in chemical safety, biosafety, biosecurity, or hazardous materials handling.
• Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content.
