Hourly Contract | Remote in US, UK, or Canada | $65-$70/hour
Mercor is hiring Biology PhDs for a high-impact project with one of the world’s top AI labs. In this contract role, you will use your advanced expertise across molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, bioinformatics, ecology, physiology, biotechnology, or biomedical research to design and review challenging problems for training next-generation AI language models. Your work will help AI systems better understand and solve real-world questions in biology and the life sciences.
Create, review, and validate complex biology-focused datasets and questions for AI training and evaluation
Ensure scientific rigor, accuracy, and relevance in fields like genomics, neuroscience, immunology, evolution, systems biology, and beyond
Collaborate with AI research teams to improve large language models for use in science and academic research
PhD in Biology or a related discipline (genetics, molecular biology, neuroscience, ecology, etc.) from a leading university in the US, Canada, or Europe
Undergraduate degree completed in the US, UK, Canada, or Europe
Strong attention to detail and scientific communication skills
Excellent English proficiency (written and spoken)
Fully remote and asynchronous; flexible with your schedule
10-20 hours per week, with potential to expand up to 40 hours per week
Project duration: 1-2 months minimum, with the possibility of extension
Rolling applications; start dates available throughout August
Hourly contractor role ($65-$70/hour, paid weekly via Stripe Connect)
Legally classified as an independent contractor for Mercor
