Chemistry Expert (PhD) — AI Safety | $65–70/hr | Remote (US)

Join a cutting-edge initiative to make advanced AI models safer by applying your chemistry expertise. This part-time, remote role is ideal for PhD-level chemists who want to contribute to responsible AI development — no prior AI or machine learning experience required.

What You'll Do

• Write expert-level prompts spanning specialized chemistry topics to test and challenge AI model capabilities.
• Evaluate and annotate model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate handling of sensitive or dual-use content.
• Apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations in alignment with AI safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• A PhD in chemistry or a closely related field — ongoing or completed (e.g., organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, medicinal, or computational chemistry; chemical engineering; materials science).
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and/or computational techniques in your subfield.
• Strong scientific reasoning and professional writing skills in English.
• Sound judgment regarding chemical safety and the responsible handling of dual-use information.

Nice to Have

• Research or coursework in chemical safety/security, synthesis, or hazardous-materials handling.
• Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content.

• Commitment: Part-time, 15–25 hours/week (flexibility up to 40 hours/week)
