Civic & Public Administration Expert at Mercor

Civic & Public Administration Expert | $45–65/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs on Project Atlas — an initiative to build realistic enterprise environments where frontier AI agents are trained and evaluated. We're seeking experienced civic and public-administration professionals from federal agencies, large state and city governments, and major federal contractors to help design and populate these environments with authentic workflows and tasks.

What You'll Do

• Build a high-fidelity digital workspace modeled on your real day-to-day tools — including policy memos, program plans, budget justifications, RFPs, constituent correspondence, performance reports, and email threads
• Incorporate relevant platforms such as Salesforce Government Cloud / Granicus, Socrata / ArcGIS Hub, and DocuSign to reflect modern government operations
• Design multi-step tasks grounded in real public-sector workflows that meaningfully challenge state-of-the-art AI agents
• Collaborate asynchronously with other civic experts and research teams to refine task designs, evaluation criteria, and scenario realism
• Contribute directly to frontier AI research and benchmarking that shapes the next generation of AI systems

Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-time experience at a federal agency, large state/city government, or major federal contractor (e.g., Deloitte GPS, Accenture Federal, Booz Allen, Leidos)
• Background in one or more of the following areas:
  • Federal program management, policy implementation, or performance reporting (GPRAMA)
  • Government procurement and contracting (FAR, DFARS, state procurement)
  • Public finance, budgeting, or grants management
  • Public safety, social services, or licensing/benefits administration
  • Legislative affairs, intergovernmental relations, or municipal operations
• Certifications a plus: PMP, CGFM, FAC-C / DAWIA
• Strong analytical thinking and writing skills — able to translate complex workflows into structured task specifications

Compensation

This role begins at an effective hourly rate of $45–$65/hr and will transition to a throughput-based compensation model rewarding quality output.
