Commercial Real Estate Attorney | $200/hr | Remote (US-Based) | Project-Based Contract

AFTERQUERY is seeking a licensed Commercial Real Estate Attorney with experience in energy project development and/or power grid interconnection for a flexible, remote contract engagement. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex energy infrastructure legal matters while maintaining full control over your schedule.

About the Role

In this project-based position, you will review historical PJM and US East Coast power-generation interconnection applications for site-control compliance. Your work will involve evaluating real estate and site-control documentation to determine whether each application satisfies conveyance, term, and exclusivity requirements.

Work is fully asynchronous, with an expected commitment of 5–20 hours per week, variable based on your personal schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review historical PJM / US East Coast power-generation interconnection applications for site-control compliance
  • Evaluate real estate and site-control documentation including deeds, leases, options, easements, amendments, payment evidence, and related agreements
  • Determine whether each application satisfies conveyance, term, and exclusivity requirements
  • Produce precise, citation-supported legal annotations on document-intensive review tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed attorney with 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate, energy project development, and/or PJM or power grid interconnection
  • Deep familiarity with real estate conveyance documents including deeds, leases, options, and easements
  • Strong analytical and legal reasoning skills with the ability to work independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce precise, citation-supported legal annotations
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
  • Must be US-based
