Compensation & Equity Expert (Total Rewards) | $50–$200/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is a Series C company valued at $10B, scaling rapidly from ~500 full-time employees alongside a large global contractor network. We're building our compensation and equity foundation from the ground up — and we want to think it through with practitioners who have done it before. This is a flexible, paid consulting engagement scoped to real questions we're actively working through.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking Total Rewards experts with depth in one or both of the following areas. Either alone qualifies.

• Built salary bands, leveling frameworks, and job architecture from scratch
• Owned full annual compensation cycles: merit planning, promotions, bonuses, and equity refresh
• Benchmarked against a defined peer set and defended methodology to skeptical leadership
• Designed incentive structures that were simple, credible, and drove behavioral change

• Designed option and RSU programs including grant guidelines, pool planning, vesting structures, and refresh philosophy
• Navigated 409A valuations, plan governance, and grant administration at a venture-backed company
• Built modeling and communication tools to help candidates and employees understand the real value of their equity

Also Valuable (Not Required)

• Compensation philosophy, benchmarking methodology, pay equity, and pay transparency
• Compensation design for global or contractor workforces at scale
• Benefits program design, HRIS, and compensation tooling
• Executive compensation, plan governance, or equity strategy through IPO readiness

How Engagements Work

Applying begins with a brief screening process. If your background is a strong fit, you'll be invited to a paid conversation focused on a live challenge we're facing — you're compensated for your time regardless of whether further work follows. Engagements are scoped to a few hours at a time, centered on one focused question.

Rate ranges from $50–$200/hr based on depth of experience. Every submission is reviewed.
