Competitive Math Expert | $80/hour | Remote (US, UK, Canada, Australia)

Mercor is seeking experienced Competitive Math Experts to collaborate with a leading AI lab on an innovative project focused on developing and evaluating advanced AI systems designed to reason through complex mathematical problems and simulate high-level mathematical competition reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute mathematical expertise to the design and evaluation of AI-generated reasoning and solutions
• Review AI outputs on challenging mathematical tasks for accuracy, rigor, and logical soundness
• Provide structured feedback on clarity, reasoning depth, and problem-solving approach
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers to refine model reasoning and performance

Ideal Qualifications

• Strong background in competition mathematics (e.g. AMC, AIME, USAMO, IMO, or Putnam-level experience)
• Deep understanding of problem-solving in algebra, combinatorics, number theory, and geometry
• Excellent logical reasoning and written communication skills
• Background in mathematics, computer science, physics, or related field (high school, undergraduate, or graduate level welcome)

Project Details

• Start Date: Immediate
• Duration: 6 weeks
• Commitment: Part-time (20+ hours/week)
• Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous – flexible working hours

Compensation & Benefits

• $80 USD/hour (independent contractor)
