Corporate Law Expert | $100–120/hr | Worldwide Remote
Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs on Project Atlas — an initiative to build realistic enterprise environments where frontier AI agents are trained and evaluated. We're seeking experienced corporate attorneys from AmLaw 100 firms and Fortune 500 in-house legal departments to recreate the digital workspaces they use daily and design tasks that genuinely challenge state-of-the-art AI systems.
Bring your expertise in M&A, capital markets, corporate governance, or commercial transactions to build high-fidelity environments that mirror real-world tools, files, and client workflows — then author tasks grounded in the matters you handle today.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a realistic digital workspace reflecting your day-to-day Drive folders — engagement letters, diligence memos, deal drafts, closing checklists, board materials, opinion letters, and email threads — along with representations of supporting platforms (e.g., Westlaw/LexisNexis, Datasite/Intralinks, Icertis, HotDocs)
- Design multi-step tasks grounded in real workflows, structured around end-to-end client engagements (origination, diligence, negotiation/drafting, closing, post-closing integration) that meaningfully challenge frontier AI agents
- Collaborate with fellow corporate attorneys to design environments, shape task scope, and review scenarios for realism and rigor
- Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for corporate-law agent benchmarks
- Contribute directly to frontier AI research — your work informs how leading labs train and evaluate the next generation of AI systems
Ideal Qualifications
- JD and active bar admission
- 3+ years of full-time corporate experience at an AmLaw 100 firm or Fortune 500 in-house legal department
- Background in one or more of the following areas:
- M&A (strategic and private-equity)
- Capital markets (public offerings, 34 Act reporting, private placements)
- Corporate governance and board advisory
- Commercial/technology transactions
- Private equity, venture capital, or fund formation
- Day-to-day proficiency with Westlaw/LexisNexis, Datasite/Intralinks, and Icertis or HotDocs/Contract Express
- Strong analytical thinking and writing — able to translate complex legal workflows into structured task specifications
Compensation
This project begins at an effective hourly rate of $100–$120/hr, with a planned transition to a throughput-based compensation model rewarding quality output.
