Corporate Tax Expert | $1,000/hr | Worldwide Remote | Task-Based Contract

Mercor is assembling a high-quality library of corporate tax work products and is seeking seasoned Corporate Tax Experts to complete self-contained tax exercises drawn from mock files — including trial balances, intercompany agreements, and deal documents — producing polished deliverables graded against a professional rubric.

What You'll Do

• Build quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, including current and deferred calculations and rate reconciliation.
• Prepare returns and supporting workpapers across federal, state apportionment, and international regimes; forecast cash taxes by jurisdiction.
• Produce technical computations and studies covering GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Pillar Two, 163(j) limitations, and net operating loss and attribute analysis.
• Build transfer pricing master file and local file documentation, including intercompany agreement and policy review.
• Execute transaction tax work: diligence of exposures and attributes, structuring memos, and documented tax positions including FIN 48 reserves.

You're a Great Fit If You Have

• 4+ years of corporate income tax experience, either in-house or at a Big 4 firm.
• Deep expertise in at least one of: provision and compliance, international and transfer pricing, or M&A tax.

Nice to Have

• CPA, JD, LLM in Taxation, EA, or CTA designation.
• Tax equity and HLBV modeling experience.

Assessment

Candidates will complete a practical assessment including an ASC 740 provision from a mock trial balance, a transfer pricing benchmarking memo, and a deal tax structuring recommendation.

Please note: This role is focused exclusively on corporate income tax. Backgrounds limited to individual return preparation, payroll tax, or sales tax only are out of scope.
