Data Engineer — Finance at Mercor

Data Engineer – Finance | $60–85/hr | Onsite: San Francisco, CA / New York, NY / Bellevue, WA | 6-Month Full-Time Contract

A fast-growing AI company's Finance organization is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers its CFO team. You'll join a small, high-velocity team with a broad mandate — building pipelines, resolving issues, and keeping Finance's roadmap on track. This is a hands-on engineering role with no overlap in BI, dashboarding, or ML research.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain PySpark-based data pipelines to ensure Finance data flows accurately and on schedule.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to pull, join, and validate large volumes of financial data.
• Collaborate with Finance and engineering stakeholders to translate ambiguous requirements into reliable data infrastructure.
• Proactively identify and resolve pipeline issues, owning data quality end to end.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer.
• Hands-on expertise with PySpark and large-scale/distributed data processing.
• Strong SQL skills — candidates will be evaluated directly across two technical screens.
• Comfortable working onsite full-time at one of the listed locations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
