Design Expert at Mercor

Design Expert | $67–75/hr | Worldwide Remote | Part-Time (~20 hrs/week)

Mercor is seeking an experienced Design Expert to author, review, and annotate technical tasks used to evaluate AI model performance on design problems. This is a flexible, fully remote role ideal for design professionals with strong technical writing skills and a broad command of design disciplines.

What You'll Do

• Produce original problem sets grounded in design mockups, wireframes, typography systems, and industrial drawings
• Write clear, well-reasoned reference solutions for design evaluation tasks
• Apply structured quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across task sets
• Review and annotate technical design tasks to support AI model benchmarking

Who We're Looking For

• Education: PhD in Design or related field, or MFA in Design with 3+ years of applied design, teaching, or research experience, or BFA/BA in Design with 5+ years of applied industrial, graphic, UX, or product design experience
• Working fluency in at least two of: industrial design, graphic design, UX, product design, or design research
• Comfortable reading and interpreting design mockups, wireframes, typography systems, and industrial drawings
• Strong technical writing ability — capable of articulating reasoning clearly and step-by-step in written form

Compensation & Commitment

• Starting rate: $67/hr, with advancement opportunities based on task quality and throughput
• Part-time, approximately 20 hours/week with a flexible schedule
• Fully remote and hourly
