Domain Expert – Nursing (Lexidrug/UpToDate) | $75–$110/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking experienced Registered Nurses with active, frequent use of UpToDate Lexidrug (or Lexicomp) to serve as domain experts in AI evaluation and data annotation. This is a flexible, hourly contractor role where your clinical expertise directly shapes the quality of AI-powered medical tools.

Who Should Apply

You must use Lexidrug or Lexicomp weekly or more as a working part of your current or recent nursing role, with a minimum of 2+ years of professional nursing experience. Inpatient or acute care experience is strongly preferred.

Core Knowledge Requirements

  • Reviewing a patient's full active medication list prior to administering a new drug
  • Recognizing when a clinical finding warrants holding a dose and escalating versus proceeding safely
  • Reconciling medications across transitions of care (admission, transfer, discharge) and identifying discrepancies
  • Monitoring for and identifying adverse reactions or interactions tied to the actual administration timeline
  • Documenting and communicating escalations clearly — what was found, what was held, who was notified

Specialized Depth (2–3 Areas Required)

  • Trissel's IV Compatibility — Y-site/syringe compatibility and multi-infusion line management
  • High-alert medication protocols (insulin, anticoagulants, opioids, chemotherapy, sedation)
  • Pediatric and weight-based dosing and administration
  • Geriatric-specific precautions (fall risk, sedation, Beers Criteria-relevant medications)
  • Patient and caregiver discharge education, including multi-language teaching materials
  • Drug identification for medication reconciliation (unlabeled or brought-from-home medications)

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate whether a medication is safe to administer against a patient's full active med list and administration history
  • Identify medication reconciliation gaps, missed IV compatibility issues, or adverse-reaction patterns
  • Assess whether a clinical question accounts for the full picture — all active meds, timing, and care transition history
  • Distinguish findings within nursing scope from those requiring escalation to pharmacy or a prescriber
  • Verify that correct nursing findings are fully carried through: dose held, appropriate party notified, chart documented

Requirements

  • Weekly or more frequent use of Lexidrug or Lexicomp in a current or recent role
  • 2+ years of professional nursing experience; acute/inpatient care strongly preferred
  • RN license in good standing; BSN or higher preferred
  • Reflexive use of Interactions and Trissel's at the point of care
  • Strong working knowledge in at least 2–3 specialized areas relevant to your practice setting (e.g., ICU, oncology, pediatrics, geriatrics)
  • Prior experience in data annotation, labeling, or AI evaluation is a plus

How to apply for this role
  • Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
  • Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
  • Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
