AFTERQUERY is seeking experienced geologists and earth scientists to help build geoscience and climate scenarios used by frontier AI labs to evaluate and test model judgment. This is a fully remote, asynchronous contract role with weekly pay — ideal for researchers or industry professionals looking to contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge AI development.

What You'll Do

• Design and document complex geoscience and climate scenarios that challenge AI model reasoning
• Apply deep domain expertise to create realistic, nuanced scientific test cases
• Clearly articulate scientific reasoning and methodology in written English
• Collaborate asynchronously with a team building the next generation of AI evaluation tools

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in geology, earth science, or a closely related field
• 2+ years of research, industry, or field experience in the geosciences
• Specialized depth in an area such as sedimentology, hydrology, geophysics, or climate science
• Strong written English skills for documenting scientific reasoning clearly and precisely
• Ability to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week

• Rate: $60–$110/hr depending on experience
