Electrical Design Specialist | $70–85/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with a leading technology organization to recruit experienced Electrical Design Specialists for a short-term, high-impact project. You'll apply hands-on industry expertise to analyze, evaluate, and solve complex electrical design and system-level engineering challenges across a variety of applications.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, analyze, and evaluate electrical designs based on technical requirements, specifications, and system performance goals.
  • Design and review electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and components — including distribution systems, power systems, control panels, switchgear, and motor control systems.
  • Interpret and analyze electrical schematics, single-line and wiring diagrams, layouts, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Perform electrical calculations including load flow, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and equipment sizing.
  • Evaluate design alternatives, engineering trade-offs, and system performance; identify potential issues or improvements.
  • Review and validate designs, calculations, assumptions, and technical approaches against project requirements and engineering standards.

Who Should Apply

  • Experienced Electrical Design Engineers or Electrical Engineers with hands-on industry experience.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of electrical system design, power systems, and core engineering principles.
  • Practical experience designing or evaluating electrical systems in industrial facilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, renewable energy, building services, or energy storage.
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage systems, electrical protection, equipment sizing, and power distribution.
  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EPLAN, or Revit is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or professional engineering (PE) certification.
  • Experience with power system studies: load flow, short-circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
  • Experience specifying and sizing transformers, switchgear, cables, motors, and protection equipment.
  • Background in industrial automation, instrumentation, or control systems.
  • Experience designing electrical systems for manufacturing facilities, data centers, or renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NEC, or equivalent electrical codes and standards.
  • Experience reviewing vendor drawings, equipment datasheets, technical submittals, and engineering designs.

Project Details

  • Duration: Short-term project
  • Work Type: Technical problem-solving, electrical design analysis, and expert evaluation
  • Domain: Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, and Industrial Electrical Systems
