Electronics Manufacturing Expert | $55–75/hr | Worldwide Remote
Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs on Project Atlas — an initiative to build realistic enterprise environments where frontier AI agents are trained and evaluated. We're looking for seasoned electronics manufacturing and hardware engineering professionals from Fortune 500 companies to help shape the next generation of AI systems.
About the Role
You'll leverage your hands-on experience in semiconductor design, PCB assembly, hardware test engineering, or electronics supply chain to recreate authentic digital workspaces and design challenging, real-world tasks for state-of-the-art AI agents. Your contributions will directly inform how leading AI labs train and benchmark their systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Build high-fidelity digital workspaces mirroring real enterprise environments — including design review decks, schematic and layout files, test reports, yield analyses, BOMs, ECOs, and reliability reports
- Design multi-step, workflow-grounded tasks that meaningfully challenge frontier AI agents across multiple apps, files, and stakeholder interactions
- Collaborate asynchronously with fellow electronics experts and AI research teams to refine task designs, evaluation criteria, and scenario realism
- Contribute to frontier AI benchmarking efforts that shape the capabilities of next-generation AI systems
Ideal Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of full-time experience at a Fortune 500 semiconductor, consumer-electronics, or networking-hardware company (e.g., Intel, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Cisco, Apple, Broadcom) or a major contract manufacturer (e.g., Foxconn, Flex, Jabil, Celestica)
- Background in one or more of the following areas:
- Semiconductor design (digital, analog, mixed-signal, IC/SoC)
- Semiconductor fabrication, process integration, or yield engineering
- PCB design, electronic assembly, or SMT manufacturing
- Hardware test engineering, validation, or reliability (HALT/HASS)
- Electronics supply chain, sourcing, or NPI/sustaining engineering
- Hands-on experience with tools such as ANSYS Fluent / STAR-CCM+, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, and GitHub / GitLab
- Strong analytical and written communication skills — able to translate complex workflows into structured task specifications
Compensation
This engagement begins at an effective hourly rate of $55–$75/hr, with a planned transition to a throughput-based compensation model rewarding quality output.
