Excel Expert (Generalist) | $70–100/hr | Remote (US Only)

About the Role
We're looking for versatile, advanced Excel professionals with broad, cross-industry experience. This is not a niche specialist role — we want generalists who have applied Excel expertise across multiple domains, business functions, and industries. Your work will directly improve the quality of training data powering the most advanced Large Language Models available today.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide research teams in closing knowledge gaps and improving AI model performance on Excel-based tasks across diverse domains.
- Design realistic, professional Excel tasks drawn from your own experience and write accurate, well-structured solutions.
- Evaluate Excel tasks and solutions, providing clear and constructive written feedback.
- Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy across training datasets.
Core Qualifications
- Demonstrated advanced, professional-level Excel expertise, including: advanced formulas (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays), PivotTables, data modeling, dashboards, Power Query, Power Pivot, and macros/VBA.
- Broad Excel application across multiple industries and business functions — cross-functional generalists strongly preferred over single-domain specialists.
- Teaching, training experience, or a PhD is a strong plus.
- Prior experience in AI training, human data annotation, or model evaluation (e.g., Rubrics-trained on Mercor or a comparable platform) is a strong plus.
- Demonstrable career progression in your field.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours/week on weekdays through end of September, then 20 hours/week thereafter.
- Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be based in the United States.
