Experienced Generalist at Mercor

Experienced Generalist | $45–60/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is hiring experienced generalists to support a large-scale AI dataset project with a leading research partner. This is a flexible, part-time contract role (10–25 hrs/week) focused on creating and refining human-aligned tasks for supervised fine-tuning (SFT) of frontier AI models. Ideal for analytical professionals with strong writing and research backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate and evaluate prompts across a wide range of generalist topics
• Review and revise AI-generated responses for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with human reasoning
• Develop prompt-response variations using different lengths, styles, and system prompts
• Identify failure points in model responses to support benchmarking efforts
• Create rubrics to evaluate prompt quality and consistency
• Apply uniform quality standards across diverse content types, including summaries, Q&A, and synthesis tasks

Ideal Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in research, education, writing, editing, or a related analytical field
• Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable working independently with evolving task guidelines
• Familiarity with LLMs or AI-assisted writing tools is a plus
