Experienced Software Engineer – AI Research (Remote)

Hourly Contract | Remote | $75–$100/hour

Mercor is seeking experienced, detail-oriented Software Engineers to collaborate with a top AI research lab in developing advanced Reinforcement Learning (RL) environments. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance interactive systems and data pipelines.

Ideal Qualifications:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong proficiency in at least one language: Python, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, C++, Go, Rust, C, or Cython.

• Experience developing interactive systems, APIs, and data pipelines involving agent-environment interactions.

• Solid foundation in software engineering principles: data structures, design patterns, unit testing, and version control.

• Familiarity with reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms and training workflows.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Details:

• Fully remote and asynchronous, offering a flexible schedule.

• Initial workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to expand to 40 hours.

• Project duration: minimum 1–2 months, with the possibility of extension.

• Currently accepting candidates from the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Compensation and Legal Status:

• Hourly contractor classification.

• Weekly payments via Stripe Connect.
