FP&A Expert at Mercor

FP&A Expert | $1,000/hr | Worldwide Remote | Task-Based Contract

Mercor is building a high-quality library of corporate FP&A work products and is seeking experienced finance professionals to complete self-contained planning exercises. You'll work from mock files — including actuals, driver schedules, and department budgets — and produce polished deliverables graded against a structured rubric.

What You'll Do

• Build bottoms-up annual budgets and multi-year long-range plans, including consolidation and approval paths.
• Produce rolling reforecasts of P&L, cash flow, and KPIs reflecting updated actuals and drivers.
• Develop headcount and capital expenditure plans covering hiring pacing, project approvals, payback analysis, and prioritization.
• Create monthly management reporting packs with variance commentary and segment/product/customer profitability analysis with cost allocation methodology.
• Forecast revenue from bookings, pipeline coverage, and demand signals, and document model drivers and assumptions clearly.

You're a Great Fit If You Have

• 4+ years of FP&A experience at an operating company, with direct ownership of a plan or reforecast cycle.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills and the analytical judgment to explain variances — not just calculate them.

Nice to Have

• Finance business partnering or commercial finance experience.
• Familiarity with planning systems such as Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or Pigment.

Assessment

Candidates will complete a practical assessment involving a rolling reforecast from mock actuals and drivers, a management reporting pack with variance commentary, and a headcount and capital expenditure plan.

Note: This role focuses on planning and forecasting ownership — not month-end close or controllership responsibilities.
