General Science Expert | $75/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to advance expert-level scientific reasoning in frontier AI models. We are seeking broad-based science generalists to design challenging cross-disciplinary STEM problems and rigorously evaluate AI-generated solutions and reasoning trajectories.

What You'll Do

• Design expert-level problems spanning multiple scientific disciplines — including physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics — with an emphasis on olympiad-style and agentic scientific-discovery tasks
• Peer-review problems authored by other contributors for clarity, genuine difficulty, and ground-truth correctness
• Evaluate and compare AI model outputs across scientific domains, delivering Accept / Revise / Reject verdicts supported by detailed written rationale

Ideal Qualifications

• Demonstrated breadth and rigor across multiple STEM fields; science-olympiad medalists (IPhO, IChO, IBO, IMO), competition winners, or polymath researchers are strongly preferred
• Ability to assess correctness beyond a single specialty and reason through complex, multi-step scientific problems
• Excellent scientific writing skills with meticulous attention to detail

This is a flexible, remote contractor role. Compensation is $75/hr.
