GIS Research Analyst at Mercor

GIS Research Analyst | $50–60/hr | Remote (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand)

Mercor is seeking GIS Research Analysts for a premier project with one of the world's top AI labs. Contribute your geospatial expertise to cutting-edge AI development by crafting high-quality, challenging problems with real-world applicability. This is a 15-20 hours per week position starting in early December.

What You'll Do:

• Work asynchronously with a team of highly qualified domain experts
• Craft geospatial analysis tasks involving zoning database searches, parcel data extraction, and spatial data retrieval across government GIS portals
• Create detailed evaluation rubrics for AI agent performance assessment
• Apply your expertise to inform the future of frontier large language models

Ideal Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field from a top US/Canada/UK/New Zealand/Australia university
• Experience with GIS platforms and government spatial databases (USGS, Census Bureau, local planning portals, ArcGIS, QGIS)
• 2+ years of professional experience in spatial analysis, urban planning, or geospatial data science
• High attention to detail and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent proficiency in English
• Currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia
