Health & Fitness SME | Contractor | 40 hrs/week | Worldwide Remote

Turing, one of the world's fastest-growing AI companies, is seeking a seasoned Health & Fitness Subject Matter Expert to help fine-tune large language models with evidence-based exercise science and human performance knowledge. This is a 10-week contractor engagement requiring 40 hours per week with 8 hours of overlap with PST.

About Turing

Turing accelerates the advancement and deployment of powerful AI systems, partnering with leading AI labs to push frontier model capabilities and building real-world AI solutions for mission-critical business needs.

Role Overview

As a Health & Fitness SME, you will serve as the domain authority for fitness-focused AI applications. You will evaluate and refine AI-generated tools, ensuring outputs align with professional strength and conditioning standards—translating athletic coaching principles into deterministic spreadsheet logic and physiological guardrails.

Key Responsibilities

  • Authoring Skills & Guardrails: Define discovery parameters (training goals, experience level, weekly frequency, equipment availability) and establish physiological guardrails for AI builders.
  • Context & Workflow Co-Design: Co-design interview workflows and validate context files including workout logs, body-metric histories, and multi-phase program templates.
  • Grounding Golden Assets: Verify progression formulas, estimated 1RM calculations, training volume rollups, and exercise validation lists across progress trackers and habit loop tools.
  • Quality Sign-Off: Review and approve AI-generated outputs to ensure full alignment with professional coaching, strength and conditioning, and sports science standards.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years in strength and conditioning, personal training, or health and fitness coaching.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge of training periodization, progressive overload, workout logging, volume/intensity management, and estimated 1RM calculations.
  • Writing & Logic Translation: Strong professional writing skills with the ability to convert athletic training rules into deterministic spreadsheet formulas and validation structures.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to establish strict physiological guardrails such as progressive overload rate caps, deload scheduling, and volume limits.
  • Technical Setup: Personal desktop or laptop with a stable, high-speed internet connection.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in any field.
  • Experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, or quality assurance is a plus but not required.

Engagement Details

  • Type: Contractor
  • Duration: Up to 10 weeks
  • Hours: 40 hours/week with 8 hours PST overlap required

Evaluation Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will receive a Job Interest Form.
  • Finalized candidates will complete a delivery interview before proceeding.
