Higher Education Research Expert | $60–70/hr | Remote (US/UK/CA/NZ/AU)

Mercor is seeking Higher Education Research Experts for a premier project with one of the world's top AI labs. Contribute your subject matter expertise to a cutting-edge project involving frontier large language models by crafting high-quality, challenging problems with real-world applicability.

Ideal Qualifications:

• PhD or Master's degree in Higher Education, Educational Research, Library Science, Science Policy, or related field from a top US/Canada/UK/New Zealand/Australia university
• Experience with academic research databases (OpenAlex, NSF Awards, IPEDS, Data.gov, institutional repositories)
• 2+ years of professional experience in academic research administration, institutional research, library science, or science policy analysis
• High attention to detail and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent proficiency in English
• Currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia

Key Responsibilities:

• Work asynchronously with a team of highly qualified experts across your domain
• Craft higher education research tasks involving academic database searches, research output aggregation, funding data extraction, and institutional data retrieval
• Create detailed evaluation rubrics for AI agent performance
• 15-20 hours per week with potential for increased hours and extension
• Fully remote and asynchronous work

Role Details:

• Start Date: Early December (applications reviewed on a rolling basis)
• Interview Process: Short interview to assess domain expertise; paid for up to 1 hour of onboarding time including screening and onboarding videos
• Compensation: Hourly contractor classification with weekly payouts via Stripe Connect
