History Expert at Mercor

History Expert | $55–$63/hr | Fully Remote | Part-Time (~20 hrs/week)

Mercor is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented History Expert to author, review, and annotate technical tasks used to evaluate AI model performance on history problems. This is a flexible, remote opportunity ideal for historians with strong research and writing backgrounds.

What You'll Do

• Produce original history problem sets grounded in maps, archival documents, timelines, and historical imagery
• Write clear, well-reasoned reference solutions for each task
• Apply structured quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Evaluate and annotate tasks to help improve AI model performance

Who We're Looking For

• PhD in History, or MA in History with 3+ years of teaching or research experience, or BA in History with 5+ years of teaching, tutoring, or applied research experience
• Working fluency in at least two of the following: ancient, medieval, modern, regional, economic, or political history
• Comfortable reading and interpreting maps, archival documents, timelines, and historical imagery
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to articulate reasoning clearly and step-by-step

Compensation & Commitment

• Starting rate: $55/hr, with advancement opportunities based on task quality and throughput
• Part-time, approximately 20 hours/week with a flexible schedule
• Fully remote and hourly
