Nutrition & Culinary AI Subject Matter Expert | Contractor | 40 hrs/week | Worldwide Remote

Turing, one of the world's fastest-growing AI companies, is seeking a seasoned Nutrition and Culinary Operations Subject Matter Expert to help fine-tune and evaluate large language models for food-focused AI applications. This is a high-impact, short-term contract role (up to 10 weeks) where your domain expertise will directly shape the quality and accuracy of AI-generated nutrition and menu-planning tools.

About Turing

Turing partners with the world's leading AI labs to advance frontier model capabilities—spanning reasoning, coding, STEM, and specialized domain knowledge—and builds real-world AI systems that solve mission-critical challenges for enterprise clients.

Role Overview

As the nutrition and culinary operations expert on this project, you will set the quality benchmark for AI tools handling macronutrient calculations, recipe scaling, ingredient costing, grocery budgeting, and dietary restriction logic. You will evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs to ensure they meet professional dietetic and culinary standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Authoring Skills & Guardrails: Define discovery parameters—calorie/macro goals, household size, dietary restrictions, and budget constraints—for AI builders and canvases.
  • Context & Workflow Co-Design: Collaborate on interview workflows and validate context files including recipe cards, pantry inventories, and grocery receipts.
  • Grounding Golden Assets: Verify macro and costing formulas, recipe unit scaling, grocery list rollups, and validation dropdowns across flagship tools like meal planners and kitchen dashboards.
  • Quality Sign-Off: Review and approve AI-generated outputs to ensure full alignment with professional dietetic, culinary, and menu-engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years in nutrition, dietetics, culinary/menu planning, or food-service operations.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of calorie and macro targets, recipe scaling (per-serving vs. per-batch), unit-level ingredient costing, and allergen/dietary restriction logic.
  • Writing & Logic Translation: Strong professional writing skills with the ability to translate nutrition guidelines and recipe math into deterministic spreadsheet formulas and validation structures.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to establish strict operational guardrails (e.g., verifying macros sum to calorie targets at 4/4/9 kcal per gram, maintaining food-cost percentage targets, managing allergen exclusions).
  • Technical Setup: Personal desktop or laptop with a stable, high-speed internet connection.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in any field.
  • Experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, or quality assurance is a plus but not required.

Engagement Details

  • Type: Contractor
  • Duration: Up to 10 weeks
  • Hours: 40 hours/week with 8 hours of overlap with PST

Evaluation Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will receive a Job Interest Form.
  • Finalists will complete a delivery interview before proceeding.
