IMO Expert & Problem Writer | $54–$93/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with a leading frontier AI research lab on a high-impact mathematics project. We are seeking elite mathematicians — including Olympiad problem writers, selection committee members, and IMO medalists — to help advance AI reasoning capabilities by training large language models to tackle Olympiad-level problems at the highest level.

This is a short-term, high-impact research engagement with the possibility of extension based on performance. Work is flexible and pay-per-task, with no cap on weekly earnings.

Key Responsibilities

• Write original, advanced IMO-style mathematics problems designed to challenge frontier AI models
• Evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness, clarity, and mathematical rigor
• Identify logical flaws, incomplete reasoning, or insufficiently rigorous proofs
• Provide clear, concise, and correct solutions with detailed chain-of-thought reasoning
• Uphold extremely high standards of mathematical precision and problem difficulty

Compensation

• Pay-per-task model — payments are tied to each fully completed and accepted problem or review
• Compensation varies based on problem difficulty, solution quality, and efficiency
• Contributors choose how many tasks they complete — no cap on total weekly earnings

Ideal Candidate

• Demonstrated expertise in Olympiad-style mathematics (IMO, Putnam, or equivalent)
• Experience writing or evaluating competition math problems
• Strong written communication skills for solution explanation and reasoning
