Japanese Voice Actor | $200/hr | Remote (Japan-Based)

Mercor is hiring Japanese Voice Actors for a short-term, paid AI audio project in collaboration with a leading AI research lab. This is a fantastic opportunity for voice professionals and audio enthusiasts to contribute to cutting-edge AI development — all from the comfort of your home studio.

Project Overview

  • Duration: Approximately 1–2 weeks from your start date
  • Pay Rate: $200 USD per finished hour of submitted audio
  • Commitment: 2–10 hours per week during the project period
  • Start Date: Thursday, March 12, 2026 (PST) — availability for a kickoff call is required

About the Role

Participants will record audio transcripts to help improve an AI model's ability to process and generate audio data. You will need to deliver clean, professional recordings with natural pacing and precise attention to written transcripts.

Who Should Apply

Professional voice acting experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with relevant audio backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. This includes experience in:

  • Music, Television, or Film
  • Podcasting or Radio
  • Twitch Streaming or YouTube
  • Comedy or Public Speaking

Requirements

  • Must be born and raised in Japan
  • Proficient English speaker for project communication
  • Ability to speak in a neutral-to-upbeat customer service tone with clear enunciation and consistent pacing
  • Strong attention to punctuation, commas, and dashes — recordings must reflect natural speech patterns
  • Professional home recording setup required: high-quality microphone, soundproofing, audio interface, pop filter, and post-production editing software

How to apply for this role
  • Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
  • Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
  • Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
