Join Mercor in building a high-quality benchmark dataset designed to evaluate AI models on professional document understanding and instruction-following within the legal domain. This is a flexible, part-time contractor role requiring a minimum of 15–20 hours per week.

About the Role

You will author complex, multi-step tasks grounded in real-world legal documents — including contracts, briefs, regulatory filings, and case memos — combined with web search and code execution scenarios. Each task must be paired with a clearly defined ground truth output and an objective evaluation rubric.

Your work will directly shape how AI systems are tested for their ability to interpret legal language, follow nuanced instructions, and produce precise, well-reasoned outputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and author complex, multi-step legal tasks based on real-world documents
• Define clear ground truth outputs and objective evaluation rubrics for each task
• Ensure tasks accurately reflect professional legal reasoning and document interpretation
• Collaborate with the Mercor team to maintain dataset quality and consistency

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for professionals with 3+ years of hands-on legal experience in one or more of the following areas:

Requirements
