Legal Expert at Mercor

Legal Expert | $65–$90/hr | Remote (US Only) | ~10 hrs/week

Join a growing network of experienced legal professionals helping shape the future of AI. Mercor is seeking a knowledgeable Legal Expert to evaluate and improve how AI systems understand and reason about legal topics. This is a flexible, part-time remote engagement offering approximately 10 hours per week, with opportunities to grow over time.

What You'll Do

• Review and evaluate written content and AI-generated responses in your area of legal expertise for accuracy and quality.
• Answer domain-specific questions and provide clear, well-reasoned feedback grounded in professional experience.
• Help identify relevant reference materials within your field.
• Share insight into how legal professionals work — including tools, workflows, and standards used day to day.
• Collaborate with a select group of subject-matter experts across various disciplines.

What We're Looking For

• Active admission to a United States state bar (required); background as a legal librarian is a plus.
• 2+ years of professional legal experience, ideally across multiple practice areas (e.g., contracts, litigation, regulatory/compliance, corporate, IP).
• Proficiency with standard legal research tools and references — case law databases, statutes, and treatises.
• Experience writing or publishing legal content (memos, briefs, CLE materials, or similar) is a plus.
• Comfortable using everyday AI tools such as ChatGPT or similar platforms.
• Based in the United States with professional working proficiency in English.
• Able to reliably commit to approximately 10 hours per week.
