Legal Expert — Litigation | $85–$120/hr | Remote (US, Canada, UK)

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to train frontier AI models using high-quality legal reasoning data. We are seeking experienced Litigation Attorneys to help shape how the next generation of AI understands civil litigation, motion practice, discovery, and trial work. This is a fully remote, flexible contractor role with competitive hourly compensation.

What You'll Do

• Design legally realistic scenarios drawn from your litigation practice, including motions, discovery, depositions, briefs, and case strategy
• Write authoritative, attorney-level "golden" reference responses to legal prompts
• Evaluate and grade AI-generated responses using structured rubrics
• Provide detailed written feedback to help the research team improve model behavior
• Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions

Who We're Looking For

• 1–4 years of professional experience in civil litigation at a law firm, government agency, or legal department
• J.D. (US/Canada) or LL.B./LL.M. (UK) from an accredited law school
• Active or inactive license to practice law in the US, Canada, or UK
• Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail

We welcome practicing civil litigators, in-house litigation counsel, judicial law clerks, and senior associates. Specialists in employment litigation, patent litigation, or other niches are encouraged to apply.

Bonus Qualifications

• E-discovery experience (Relativity, document coding, privilege review)
• Appellate or trial court experience
• Familiarity with case management software

Role Details

• Commitment: Minimum 20 hours per week (40+ preferred)
• Location: Fully remote — must be based in the United States, Canada, or United Kingdom
• Start Date: Immediate — applications reviewed on a rolling basis
• Compensation: $85–$120/hr depending on experience
