Legal Expert — Transactional/Corporate | $85–$120/hr | Remote (US, Canada, UK)

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to train next-generation frontier models using high-quality legal reasoning data. We are seeking experienced Transactional and Corporate Attorneys to help shape how AI understands M&A, contracts, securities, and corporate governance.

What You'll Do

• Design realistic deal scenarios drawn from your transactional practice — including M&A due diligence, SPAs/APAs, securities filings, NDAs, governance matters, and disclosure schedules
• Write attorney-level "golden" reference responses to legal prompts and scenarios
• Evaluate and grade AI-generated legal responses using structured rubrics
• Provide detailed written feedback to help the research team improve model behavior
• Participate in onboarding office hours and specialty calibration sessions

Who We're Looking For

• 1–4 years of professional experience in transactional or corporate law (law firm, in-house, or similar)
• J.D. (US/Canada) or LL.B./LL.M. (UK) from an accredited law school
• Active or inactive license to practice law in the US, Canada, or UK
• Strong background in contract review, due diligence, corporate governance, NDA drafting, or securities filings
• Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with disclosure schedules or closing checklists
• Exposure to private equity, venture capital, or fund formation
• SEC reporting or securities offering experience
• Familiarity with virtual data rooms (Intralinks, Datasite, etc.)

Role Details

• Commitment: Minimum 20 hours/week (40+ preferred)
• Location: Fully remote — must be based in the US, Canada, or UK
• Start Date: Immediate; applications reviewed on a rolling basis
• Compensation: $85–$120/hr depending on experience

M&A associates, in-house transactional counsel, corporate generalists, and senior associates in transactional practices are all encouraged to apply.
