Legal Technology Expert at Mercor

Legal Technology Expert | $55–75/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs on Project Atlas — an initiative to build realistic enterprise environments where frontier AI agents are trained and evaluated. We're looking for experienced legal-operations and legal-technology professionals from AmLaw 100 firms, Fortune 500 in-house legal departments, and major legal-tech vendors to help recreate the digital workspaces they use every day and design tasks that genuinely challenge state-of-the-art AI systems.

What You'll Do

• Build a high-fidelity digital workspace modeled on your real day-to-day environment — including process maps, intake forms, matter-management reports, CLM rollouts, e-discovery plans, vendor-evaluation decks, and email threads
• Incorporate representation of platforms you actively use, such as Icertis, HotDocs, Relativity, Clio, or MyCase
• Design multi-step, realistic tasks grounded in actual legal workflows that require navigating multiple apps, files, and stakeholders
• Collaborate asynchronously with other legal-ops and legal-tech experts to review scenarios for realism and rigor
• Work with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for legal-tech AI benchmarks
• Directly contribute to frontier AI research — your work informs how leading labs train and evaluate next-generation AI systems

Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-time experience in legal operations or legal technology at an AmLaw 100 firm, Fortune 500 in-house legal department, or major legal-tech vendor
• Background in one or more of the following areas:
  • Legal operations, process improvement, and legal-spend management
  • E-discovery and document review workflows
  • Contract lifecycle management (CLM)
  • Matter management and e-billing
  • Legal intake, knowledge management, and enterprise legal program design
• Day-to-day experience with tools such as Relativity, Icertis, HotDocs / Contract Express, Clio, or MyCase
• CLOC or ACC Legal Ops involvement is a plus
• Strong analytical thinking and writing skills — able to translate complex legal-ops workflows into structured task specifications

Compensation

This role begins at an hourly rate of $55–$75/hr and is expected to transition to a throughput-based compensation model rewarding quality output over time.
